A framework for the interpretation of the visihle/UV absorption spectra of high-nuclearity transition-metal cluster carbonyls based on MO studies of their electronic structure is proposed. The main characteristic of these cluster compounds is the high density of excited electronic states within a fe

## Abstract Miscellaneous tetrasubstituted ammonium salts of [Pt~3__n__~(CO)~6__n__~]^2–^ (__n__ = 5–8) clusters, obtained by the stoichiometric oxidation of the corresponding [Pt~9~(CO)~18~]^2–^ salts with tropylium tetrafluoroborate, self‐assemble into infinite semicontinuous or continuous {[Pt~3
