The slcgle-crys\*Zd absorption spectrum of ferroccne at 4.2% baa been obtained in the 3 000-6 000 .% region. The three observed bvlds were assigned aa spin-allowed d-d tr=itions. A definitive Iigand field interpretation of the electronic spectrum of ferrocene resulted.
