M + Na] + ions (m/z 1164) from gramicidin S can be dissociated in a Fourier-transform mass spectrometer with -85% efficiency using a 50 pA beam of 70 eV electrons for 500 ps. Although the fragment ions are smaller, on average, than those from collisionally activated dissociation or 193 nm photodisso
## Abstract [C~13~H~9~S]^+^, [C~14~H~11~]^+^, [C~13~H~11~]^+^ and [C~8~H~7~S]^+^ ions with unknown structures were generated from two [C~14~H~12~S]^+Β·^precursor ions by fragmentation reactions that must be preceded by extensive rearrangements. Ions with the same compositions, each with several init
