Time-of-flight distributions of neutral molecules ejected from various organic surfaces have been measured subsequent to 8 keV Ar and H 2 ion bombardment. The distributions show that depending on the physical and chemical nature of the substrate, the neutral molecules have strikingly different desor

β¦ Synopsis
M + Na] + ions (m/z 1164) from gramicidin S can be dissociated in a Fourier-transform mass spectrometer with -85% efficiency using a 50 pA beam of 70 eV electrons for 500 ps. Although the fragment ions are smaller, on average, than those from collisionally activated dissociation or 193 nm photodissociation, these also provide extensive sequence information.
