β¦ Synopsis
The electrolytic reduction and oxidation of TaCl, in the LiCl-KC1 eutectic meIt have been studied by chronopotentiometric and coulometric measurements at 500, 600 and 675Β°C. It has been found that the reduction occurs in two steps: a diffusion-controlled, reversible two-electron reaction from Ta(IV) to Ta(II), and an irreversible reaction from Ta(I1) to tantalum, and that the oxidation occurs in one step: a diffusion controlled, reversible one-ekztron reaction from Ta(IV) to Ta(V). La reduction se fait en deux &apes: une diffusion control& reversible, qui transfert deux electrons et fait passer le tantal de l' &at(IV) a l' &at(II), et une r&action irreversible qui le fait passer de l' &at(II) a l' &at(O). Voltammetric and chronopotentiometric studies have shown that the reduction of InCI, dissolved in molten LiCl-KC1 at 450Β°C follows a two step mechanism: It?+ + 2e-\*In+ and In+le-\*In". The In'+/In+ and In+/InO couples were studied separately by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Analysi
