✦ Synopsis
Voltammetric and chronopotentiometric studies have shown that the reduction of InCI, dissolved in molten LiCl-KC1 at 450°C follows a two step mechanism: It?+ + 2e-*In+ and In+le-*In".
The In'+/In+ and In+/InO couples were studied separately by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Analysis of the spectra showed that the electronic exchanges are respectively reversible and quasi-reversible. Moreover, it allowed the determination of the rate constant of In+/In' exchange, the diffusion coefficients of indium species in the LiCI-KCI eutectic, and also the diffusion layer thickness.
