✦ Synopsis


Conductance measurements at 25°C on dilute solutions of hydrogen chloride in 2-propanol containing small amounts of water are reported. The data were analysed with the 1965 theoretical Fuoss-Onsager three-parameter equation. The equivalent conductance at infinite dilution in absolute 2-propanol has been determined by graphical extrapolation. The equilibrium constant and the standard free energy change for ROH; + H,O 2 ROH + H,O+ have been determined. A comparison among &+q values in all alcohols of C,H,,,+,,OH series so far studied is reported and variation of the ionic Walden products with chain length of the alcohol are discussed qualitatively with respect to current theories of proton-transfer mechanism. Zusammdassung-B wird iiber Messungen der Aequivalentleitfslhigkeit bei 25°C von HCl-Liisungen in 2-Propanol mit kleinem Wassergehalt berichtet. Die experimentellen Ergebnisse werden mit Hilfe der von Fuoss-Onsager 1965 entwickelten Leitftihigkeitstheorie analysiert. Die Aequivalentleitffiigkeit bei unendlicher Verdtinnung in absolutem 2-Propanol wurde durch graph&he Extrapolation bcstimmt. Standardenergie der Reaktion Die Gleichgewichtskonstante und die Aenderung der freien wurde bestimmt . ROH; + Ha0 = ROH + H*O+ Die Werte von Af;+v werden fiir alle bisher untersuchten Alkohole der Reihe C,H,p,,+,,OH miteinander verglichen. Die Aenderung des ionischen Waldenprodukts mit der KettenILinge wird unter Beriicksichtigung der tiblichen Theorien des Protonentranfers qualitativ diskutiert.
