โœฆ Synopsis

The gas permeability of 0, and N, for homogeneous and composite membranes prepared from poly(2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene oxide) (PPO) samples with different molecular weight parameters was investigated. Temperature dependencies of gas permeability coefficients and permselectivity were determined for homogeneous membranes. It was established that gas permeability coefficients of homogeneous membranes depend on molecular weight of the polymers used. The gas permeability of composite membranes with a PPO selective layer was investigated as a function of PPO intrinsic viscosity [ q ] and its casting solution concentration (c). It was shown that under the condition [ 7 ) ] -c = const it is possible to obtain composite membranes with the same transport properties by using polymers with different molecular weight parameters.

Gas sorption and transport properties at 35ะŠC have been reported for a series of UV-irradiated films of poly(2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene oxide) (PPO). UV irradiation induced crosslinking in all films. The gas permeability was reduced upon crosslinking while significant increases in gas permselectivit

Poly(2,6-dimethyl-1,4 -phenylene oxide) (PPO) is a chemically resistant polymer and, therefore, an attractive material for the formation of membranes. However, membranes of unmodified PPO prepared by an immersion precipitation possess very low hydraulic permeabilities at the filtration processes. T

The thermal oxidation and photo-oxidation of poly(2,6-dimethyl-l,4phenylene oxide) have been examined. Oxidation of the plastic results in the evolution of carbon dioxide, nitrogen and traces of hydrogen, the introduction of considerable crosslinking, and increased absorption in the hydroxyl and car
