Five groups of 18 male spontaneously hypertensive rats (total: 90) were fed pelleted food containing mercuric chloride (HgCl 2 ) at mercury dose levels of 0, 1, 3, 10, and 30 g/g over a period of 12 weeks. An age-related increase in blood pressure was observed in all groups receiving mercury. Our da
