## Abstract Three phenylalanine derivatives, AcβPheβNHMe, HβPheβNHMe, and AcβPheβOH, were selected as models of Phe residues situated at the internal, the Nβterminal, and the Cβterminal positions of peptide chains, respctively. The sideβchain conformations of the three compounds were analyzed from
