## Abstract This paper presents the design of a wideband printed monopole antenna with inductance loading. This design introduces a loading inductor aimed at decreasing the lowest frequency of the impedance bandwidth, while adjusting the ratio of the patch's length to width in order to increase the

✦ Synopsis
Abstract
A lightweight, low‐cost antenna suitable for personal communication handsets is proposed. This antenna consists of two stacked quarter‐wavelength elements short‐circuited along the same plane. A slot was embedding in each patch to allow the achievement of two widebands, including GSM and DCS/PCS/UMTS system applications. The software design package IE3D was used and good agreement with the measured results was obtained. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
