✦ Synopsis

Abstract

A microstrip dual‐mode bandpass filter (BPF) using a circular patch resonator is investigated in this paper. Unlike the conventional dual‐mode patch‐resonator bandpass filter studied in the literature, the introduced filter is perturbed by one circular hole in the northeast area of the patch. The filter has a simple topology and can implement elliptic‐function response characteristics. An experimental filter is optimally designed and fabricated, for the first time, in order to demonstrate the idea. Both the calculated and measured results are presented. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 46: 28–30, 2005; Published online in Wiley InterScience (www.interscience.wiley.com). A novel microstrip transversal bandpass filter is proposed by replacing the full-wavelength resonator with two shorter resonators; in order to achieve simultaneous spurious response suppression and dual zero implementation. These two zeros can be easily tuned by the above resonators. A prototype fil
