This glossary is part of the DLI Basic Course in Vietnamese.
In this course, priority is given to developing the ability to comprehend and read Vietnamese. Although the speaking and writing skills are not stressed as much, conversation and writing exercises are included.
Graduates should be able to grasp the essentials of all speech in Vietnamese, including technical discussions within their special field(s), and to summarize in English recorded Vietnamese news items and conversations. They should also be able to read a standard newspaper or magazine article and accurately grasp its meaning with moderate use of a dictionary.
