✦ Synopsis

The vibrational predissociation lifetime of NeBr, m the ground electronic state with one vibrational quantum in the halogen stretch was measured directly in a free jet expansion. NeBrl( X, II= 1) was detected by optical-optical double resonance to monitor the population as a function of distance from the nozzle to the laser interaction region. The vibrational predissociation lifetime for NeBr,( X, v= 1) was determined to be 8 k 3 ps.

The lifetime of the benzene dimer in the S 2 state has been determined directly by pump-probe measurements with 160 fs laser pulses.
