β¦ Synopsis
The vibrational predissociation lifetime of NeBr, m the ground electronic state with one vibrational quantum in the halogen stretch was measured directly in a free jet expansion. NeBrl( X, II= 1) was detected by optical-optical double resonance to monitor the population as a function of distance from the nozzle to the laser interaction region. The vibrational predissociation lifetime for NeBr,( X, v= 1) was determined to be 8 k 3 ps.

The magnetic vibrational circular dichroism (MVCD) spectra of the v 4 + v 5 combination band of acetylene was measured. From the result for the P(J" = 1 ~ J' = 0) rotational transition, the g j-value in the ground vibrational state for C2H 2 was determined to be + 0.049 (+ 0.005). The sign of the g
The radiative lifetimes Trad of the CO\* (A 'Iii. u' = O-9) states have been dctcrmincd using the CO\* (A 'Iii, u'+ X 'Z\*, u") "comet tail" emission. The CO\* (A 2JIil u') states were populated by 100 CV electrons incident on CO. The lifctimns have been obtained by means of the delayed coincidcncc
The lifetime of the benzene dimer in the S 2 state has been determined directly by pump-probe measurements with 160 fs laser pulses. The value of = 40 fs obtained characterises the fast internal conversion to the S O as well as to the S ~ state. The probability of the S 2 to S~ state conversion for
