Cultured rat vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) produce nitric oxide (NO) under stimulation by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and interferon-y (IFN-y). NO synthase (NOS) and manganese superoxide dismutase (Mn-SOD) mRNA expressions are simultaneously induced by these stimulants in rat VSMCs. In VSMCs, S-
