In the molecule of the highly conjugated title compound, C 20 H 18 N 2 O 4 S 3 , the thiophene rings are in an antiparallel arrangement and both azomethine bonds adopt the thermodynamically stable E isomeric form. The mean planes of the terminal thiophene rings are twisted by 9.04 (4) and 25.07 (6)
The title compound, C 16 H 17 NO 5 , crystallizes with two molecules in the asymmetric unit. The dihedral angles between the furan and benzene rings are 26.38 (13) and 28.52 (14) . The molecules are linked by N-HÁ Á ÁO hydrogen bonds, leading to dimers.
The molecule of compound (1) in the crystal structure. Displacement ellipsoids are drawn at the 50% probability level. The dotted line indicates the intramolecular hydrogen bond.
