✦ Synopsis

In the title complex, diaquabis(2-amino-3-methylbutyrato-2 N,O)nickel(II), [Ni(C 5 H 10 NO 2 ) 2 (H 2 O) 2 ], the Ni II atom (site symmetry 2) is octahedrally coordinated by two N,O-bidenate valinate ions and two water molecules. A network of intermolecular hydrogen bonds links the complex molecules into a two-dimensional network.

In the title compound, [Ni(C 6 H 5 O 5 ) 2 (H 2 O) 2 ], the Ni II atom, located on an inversion centre, is coordinated by four O atoms from two malate ligands and two water molecules in an octahedral geometry showing a very large axial distortion. The packing is governed by intermolecular O-HÁ Á ÁO

The title compound, [Ni(C 8 H 5 O 3 ) 2 (C 3 H 4 N 2 ) 2 (H 2 O) 2 ], is isostructural with the manganese analogue. The Ni atom, which lies on a centre of inversion, is coordinated by two imidazole and two water ligands, as well as by the formylbenzoate groups, in an all-trans octahedral geometry.
