The apparent rate constants of formation and hydrolysis of the Schiff bases formed between pyridoxal and polyallylamine has been fitted to a kinetic scheme that involve the different protonated species in the reaction medium and the individual rate constants of formation (k and hydrolysis (k ). We determined the apparent equilibrium constant of formation, KpH, of the Schijf bases of pyridoxal 5'-phosphate (PLP) and poly-and copolymers containing L-lysine, as a function of pH at 25" and a constant ionic strength of 0 . 1 ~. The KPH values obtained at acidic and neutral pH were larger that t

## Abstract The stability of some Schiff‐bases formed between PLP and different amino acids has been investigated in a wide range of pH. The kinetic constants of formation of these compounds and their hydrolysis rate constants have been determined. Results show that the α‐position of the carboxyl g
