โœฆ Synopsis

The decrease in viscosity is widely used to estimate the activity of pectinolytic enzymes. This method is shown to be influenced by the production strain and this prevents an accurate comparison between the activities of different microorganisms, especially under different conditions.

Three configurations based on the principles behind flow injection analysis (FIA) are proposed for the automatic determination of enzymatic activity. The proposed approaches are normal, stopped-flow and open-closed FIA. The comparative study of the methods developed from these approaches allows the

A flow-through viscometer is described, developed for application as a sensor in automated analysis. Its essential part is a glass capillary connected to the sample flow circuit with thin-walled rubber tubes at both ends. These tubes separate the fluid to be tested from a hydraulic liquid. This cons

The use of five cholesterol ester hydrolases (CEH), numbered 1 to 5, for the enzymatic determination of total cholesterol of human and rat serum are compared. All CEH gave approximately the same value (no statistical difference) for human serum. However, when rat serum cholesterol was determined, CE
