## Abstract Based on the symmetric properties of the antenna, the design equations for the first four mode frequencies are derived. A design methodology for an antenna operating at 2.45 GHz is presented. Two antennas have been designed and tested, and good agreement among the predicted, simulated,

✦ Synopsis
Abstract
A V‐shaped microstrip patch antenna for 2.4 GHz is designed, fabricated, and experimentally measured. The proposed antenna is designed on glass‐epoxy substrate. Here, coaxial probe feed is used to provide the RF power to the patch. The proposed design provides 50 MHz impedance bandwidth determined from 10 dB return loss for 2.4 GHz frequency band, respectively. The design is simulated using the Ansoft HFSS simulation tool. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 53:806–811, 2011; View this article online at wileyonlinelibrary.com.
