✦ Synopsis
A kinetic study of the decomposition reactions of N-bromoalanine, N-bromo-2-aminobutyric acid, and N-bromonorvaline shows them to be first-order with respect to N-bromoaminoacid concentration and independent of both excess aminoacid and pH over the interval pH 9-11. In this pH range the mean rate constants at 298 K were 1.20 X s-l and 1.28 X s-', respectively.

## Abstract We studied the kinetics of the __N__‐chlorination of 2‐aminobutyric, 3‐aminoisobutyric, and 4‐aminobutyric acids by sodium hypoclorite in strongly alkaline aqueous solution. As in the case of other amines, the rate of formation of the four __N__‐chloroamino acids was proportional to the
## Abstract The gas‐phase elimination kinetics of the ethyl ester of two α‐amino acid type of molecules have been determined over the temperature range of 360–430°C and pressure range of 26–86 Torr. The reactions, in a static reaction system, are homogeneous and unimolecular and obey a first‐order
At 298 K the rate constant for the decomposition of N-chloroleucine has the constant value 3.20 >: lo-\* s-' over the range pH 5-12, increases with increasing acidity at pH < 5, and increases with pH a t pH > 12. A mechanism is put forward which explains these results.
## Abstract The production of L‐glutamic acid‐^15^N in good yield by direct enzymic synthesis from 2‐oxoglutaric acid, ammonium chloride‐^15^N (95 atom % ^15^N) and reduced nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH) is described. The NADPH is continuously regenerated by coupling the first
