A simple and convenient method for the microsynthesis of tritiated 3-methylfuran and trttiated 2-1nethylfuran froa 3furfuryl chloride and 2-furfuryl chloride, respectively, has been described. The tritium label was introduced by reductive dehalogenation with tritiated lithim aluminum hydride.

Abstract
Nuclear decay of C^3^H~4~ in the presence of gaseous furan represents a simple and convenient synthetic route to carrier‐free multitritiated 3‐methyl‐ and 2‐methyl‐furan. Their application for biological studies appears particularly promising, on account of the favourable characteristics of the followed synthetic approach.
