The iminophosphane, ~Bu~P-P=N-NR~ (R=SiMeJ, produced by base-catalyzed elimination of ClSiMe3 from the corresponding phosphane, possesses an unusually long PN bond (162 pm), which is in accord with quantum chemical calculations.
