This manuscript describes two catalytic methods for silyl ether synthesis using Grubbs' catalyst Cl 2 (PCy 3 ) 2 Ru CHPh. Silyl ethers are obtained from the reaction of a variety of silanes with alcohols by dehydrogenative condensation and by the hydrosilylation of carbonyl compounds. Both reactions

The reaction of propargyl alcohol derivatives with the complex [Cp\*RuCl(dippe)] [dippe = 1,2-bis(diisopropylphosphane)ethane] and NaBPh 4 in MeOH yields hydrido(3-hydroxyalkynyl) compounds [Cp\*Ru(H){CϵCC(OH)RRЈ}-(dippe)][BPh 4 ] [R, RЈ = Ph, Ph (1a); H, Ph (1b); H, Me (1c)]. These represent interm
