✦ Synopsis


Abstract

The cover picture shows cross sectional and top views of ordered microstructure arrays of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) using porous silicon as template material. The authors have studied how the type of template, the aspect ratio of the pore and the filling of the pore influence the fabrication of microtubes and microfibers (see pp. 2437–2440). The first author Lluís F. Marsal received his M.Sc. degree in physics from the University of Barcelona in 1991, and a Ph.D. degree from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia in 1997. In 1991, he joined the Department of Electronic Engineering, University Rovira i Virgili, Spain, where he became Associate Professor in 2000. His research interests are mainly devoted to the characterization and modelling of advanced electronic and photonic devices, photonic crystals based on silicon and new micro‐nanostructures.
