The essential oil composition of Cedrela odorata L. leaves was comprehensively investigated by means of capillary GC and GCยฑMS. Twenty-six constituents were identiยฎed in the volatile oil. Sesquiterpenoids such as a-santalene (9.5%), b-acoradiene (7.1%), b-elemene (6.8%), caryophyllene oxide (6.0%) a
GCยฑMS analysis of the leaf oils of Porophyllum obscurum (Spreng.) D.C. showed the presence of 27 compounds. The main components were b-pinene (16.3%), b-caryophyllene (14.1%), trans-sabinene hydrate (12.8%) and undec-1-ene (12.4%).
The steam-distilled essential oil of Solidago virgaurea L. was investigated by GC, GCยฑMS and NMr spectroscopy. Sixty components were identiยฎed. The main constituents are a-pinene, myrcene, b-pinene, limonene, sabinene and germacrene-D.
