WHEN a pentane suspension of amylsodium was allowed to react for 5 hr at room temperature with an equimolar amount of bicyclo[2.2.l]heptadiene (I) and the reaction mixture forced onto an excess of solid C02, a crystalline acid (II) could be isolated in good yield. This acid KBr , AEtoH max 222 mp, "
