## Abstract __Clinopodium ascendens__ (Jordan) Sampaio [synonyms = __Calamintha ascendens__ Jordan = __C. officinalis__ Moench ssp. __ascendens__ (Jord.) Mateo = __C. sylvatica__ Bromf. ssp. __ascendens__ (Jord.) P.W. Ball] is a small herbaceous plant with a very strong and distinctive mint aroma.
Air-dried leaves of Chuquiragu spinosu (R. et P.) D. Don (Asteraceae) gave by hydrodistillation a 0.2% yield of essential oil. The oil composition was analysed by GC and GC-MS; 70 components were identified. The oil contained more than 76% of oxygen-containing compounds. Carbonyl compounds were the
