A variety of relative and absolute techniques have been used to measure the reactivity of fluorine atoms with a series of halogenated organic compounds and CO. The following rate constants were derived, in units of cm3 molecule-' s-l: CH3F, (3.7 2 0.8) X CH3C1, (3.3 2 0.71 X 10 -'I; CH3Br, (3.0 2 0.
Measurements of the critical properties p , , and T for the pure substances CO , CHF , c c c 2 3 Ε½ . Ε½ . SF , and for CO q CHF and CHF q SF were performed by observation of the critical opalescence in a static equilibrium cell. The experimental data were compared to values given in the literature.
Absolute rate constants for the reaction of O(3P) atoms with CHI = CHF, CH2 = CHC1, and CH2 = CHBr have been obtained at 298 f 2Β°K using a modulation phase shift technique. The rate constants ( k z X lo-\* l./mole.sec) obtained are: CH2 = CHF (1.61 =t 0.20), CH2 = CHCl (2.54 + 0.26), and CHZ = CHBr
