โœฆ Synopsis

Reversed-phase columns packed with octadecyl and phenyl reversed phases did not provide adequate separation of aflatoxins. A pellicular adsorption column provided partial separation, i.e. B1 and Bz from GI and G1, but not BI from I& nor G1 from Gz. A microparticulate adsorption (Micro-A) column completely separated aflatoxins B,, B2, GI, and G1. Detection was more selective at 350 nm (or 365 nm) than at 254 nm. A Fluoro Monitor Model 1209 detector (Laboratory Data Control

Corp.) was more sensitive for aflatoxins G1 and Gz than for B1 and Bz. Aflatoxin B, at the 30-ppb level in yellow corn was detected with the Micro-A column and the 350-nm photometer. The limit of detection was estimated at about 10 ppb"".

A reversed-phase high-pressure liquid chromatographic procedure has been developed to separate and quantitate leukotrienes. This procedure is based on the ultraviolet absorption of the conjugated triene moiety of these compounds and is sensitive to the nanogram level. Several leukotrienes (B4, C,, D

A fast, simple, and very sensitive method for the simultaneous determination of nitrate and nitrite was developed by coupling the high ultraviolet absorbance of these compounds with their separation from one another and from components of media and cell extracts by highpressure anion-exchange liquid
