โœฆ Synopsis

Abstract

A novel compact antenna operating at GSM, DCS, PCS and IMT2000 bands is presented. With a loosely coupled ground branch, the antenna covers all 2โ€G and 3โ€G wireless communication bands of GSM(890โ€“960 MHz), DCS(1710โ€“1880 MHz), PCS(1850โ€“1990 MHz), IMT2000 (1920โ€“2170 MHz). ยฉ 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 48: 719โ€“721, 2006; Published online in Wiley InterScience (www.interscience.wiley.com). DOI 10.1002/mop.21454.

The proposed internal antenna has a small thickness of only 3 mm, yet it is capable of providing two wide operating bands at about 0.9 and 2 GHz so as to meet the bandwidth requirements of the GSM/DCS/PCS/UMTS systems. Details of the design considerations of the proposed antenna are described, and t
