A key integral in the deri¨ation of the size-dependent ( ) Maxwell᎐Garnett MG formula presented in the subject paper is not only noncon¨ergent, but also unnecessary. The correct deri¨ation of the MG formula, based on the so-called Fikioris approach, has been a¨ailable for se¨eral years.

Wa¨e attenuation in a dielectric-in-dielectric composite is calculated using the long-wa¨elength T-matrix multiple-scattering theory and the size-dependent Maxwell᎐Garnett formula. Results obtained are first compared, and then followed by their comparisons with the experimental results and other the
