A study has been done of the possible use of chromosome analysis in the diagnosis of cells in effusion. Analyzable preparations were made from 63 samples (from 58 patients). If gross chromosome abnormality indicates cancer, then 24 of these cases could be so diagnosed. With conventional screening 38

## Abstract Effusion cells from six patients with advanced Hodgkin's disease were studied. Even though no Hodgkin or ReedβSternberg cells could be identified cytologically in five of the six cases, striking chromosome anomalies of a clonal nature, including a number of recurrent marker chromosomes,
Transforming growth factors (TGF) are polypeptides that stimulate anchorage-independent growth of various nontransformed cells in vitro. Transforming growth factors have been found in tumor extracts and in the urine of cancer patients. The specific questions of our study were whether TGF activity ca

## Abstract Although rarely diagnosed in women with gynecologic cancers, pericardial metastasis and effusion are often considered preterminal events. As newer therapies result in prolongation of survival for women with advanced cervical cancer, uncommon metastatic sites may be seen with increasing
