Synthesis and Structural Characterization of Gadolinium-Calcium

Ferrites Gd 1-x CaxFeO 3-y (0 ≤ x ≤ 2/3).

-Structure determination of the single phase title compounds, prepared by solid state reaction in air by powder XRD methods, shows that the perovskite-type compounds adopt the orthorhombic space group Pbnm. The initial substitution of Ca 2+ for Gd 3+ leads to a decrease of the unit cell dimensions which do not significantly change upon further increases of x from 0.10 to 0.66. -(LI,
