β¦ Synopsis
Synthesis and Magnetic Properties of LnFe 10 Si 2 Zx (Z: N, H and Ln: Tb, Er).
-Single-phase products of LnFe 10 Si 2 are synthesized by a reduction-diffusion process from iron, silicon and Er 2 O 3 or Tb 4 O 7 together with excess calcium hydride (1. 950 β’ C, 2 h, 2. 1100 β’ C, 2.5 h). The nitrogen interstitial compounds are obtained by direct reaction with nitrogen at high pressure. The introduction of nitrogen changes the easy magnetization direction from the basal plane to the c-axis for TbFe 10 Si 2 and from the c-axis to the basal plane for ErFe 10
