β¦ Synopsis
Structural and Magnetic Properties of Ln 2 (Fe,Si) 17 Compounds with Ln: Tb and Er.
-Tb 2 Fe 17-x Six and Er 2 Fe 17-x Six (x = 0-3.5) intermetallic compounds are prepared by an arc melting method in order to study the effects of Si-substitution in Tb 2 Fe 17 and Er 2 Fe 17 on the magnetic and structural properties. The substitution leads to a clear reduction of the unit cell volume. A phase transition from the Th 2 Ni 17 to the Th 2 Zn 17 -type structure with increasing Si-content is observed for the Tb-samples, while all Er-samples crystallize in the Th 2 Ni 17 structure type. Si-substitution for Fe results in a decrease of the spontaneous moment and an increase of the Curie temperature. -(WANG,
