Benzodiazepin-1-one-2-carboxylic Acid and a 3-Cyanoindole. -Key step of the described synthesis is the intramolecular cyclization of the precursors (IV) and (VI) in Ph 2 O. In the latter case compound (VII), which is formed via elimination of HNCO, is isolated as a side product. -(
