Practical Route to D-Manno and D-Gluco Azasugars from C2-Symmetric Bis-Aziridines.
-Ring opening of the bis-aziridine (I) with oxygen nucleophiles such as (II) or water results in formation of the tetrasubstituted pyrrolidines (III) and (V) with D-gluco configuration and the piperidines (IV) and (VI) with D-manno configuration.
