✦ Synopsis

Intramolecular Cyclization of C2 Symmetric and meso-Iodo Amino Alcohols: A Synthetic Approach to Azasugars.

-Hydrolysis of meso-(I) followed by Boc-protection provides a mixture of 4 azasugars (III)-(VI). They can be elaborated into a number of derivatives. Furthermore, acidic cleavage of (I) followed by Boc-protection leads to the fused tetrahydrofuran (XIII), whose skeleton is structurally related to the clinically useful angina pectoris and heart failure agent KF-14124. -(KANG, S.
