Low-Valent Titanium Induced Novel Reductive Cyclizations of α,β-Unsaturated Nitrile Compounds.

-Cyclopentenes such as (II), (IV), and (VII) are easily prepared by cyclodimerization of α,β-unsaturated nitriles promoted by low-valent titanium reagent. Using the same reagent for nitro-compounds such as (VIII), intramolecular reductive coupling reaction is observed with formation of aminoquinolines.
