Diastereoselective Synthesis of C-Glycosylphosphonates via Free-Radical Glycosylation.

-C-glycosidic sugar phosphonates (III) are prepared in a single step by addition of free radicals derived from the bromides (I) to dialkyl vinylphosphonates. In most cases, high Ξ±-selectivity at the reaction center is observed.
