Determination of Relative and Absolute Stereochemistry of Cephalosporolide D and Its Enantioselective Total Synthesis.

-The title compound (XI) is synthesized in an efficient approach via an aldol reaction of (II) and (III) as key step. (R)-(I) is obtained from commercially available methyl (R)-3-hydroxybutanoate. The structure of (XI) is confirmed by X-ray analysis.
