An Asymmetric Synthesis (-)-Epibatidine.

-The title compound (X) is synthesized with a view to its biological activity and its low natural abundance. Key steps in this synthesis are the Pd-catalyzed desymmetrization of the dibenzoate (I) and the Pd-catalyzed cross coupling of the vinyl bromide (V) with the arylstannane (VI) (for compound (VII) no yield given).
