✦ Synopsis

Aerobic Oxidation of α-Hydroxycarbonyls Catalyzed by Trichlorooxyvanadium: Efficient Synthesis of α-Dicarbonyl Compounds.

-Efficient and chemoselective aerobic oxidation of α-hydroxycarbonyls to αdicarbonyls is achieved using a catalytic amount of VOCl 3 under optimized conditions. It is noteworthy that this oxidation is not a radical reaction because it could not be influenced by 2,6-di(tert.-butyl)p-cresol. -(KIRI-
