β¦ Synopsis
A New Phase of Oriented Mesoporous Silicate Thin Films.
-Silicate/surfactant thin films of P63/mmc structure are grown either on mica or at air-water interface using a double-headed quaternary amine surfactant. Characterization by XRD and TEM shows that these films, which are stable to calcination, are crystalline and oriented with the c-axis perpendicular to the plane. According to the AFM and SEM images, the films are suggested to nucleate on hexagonally close packed surfactant micelles. Due to the pore structure and the suggested component perpendicular to the plane of the film, these materials are promising for separation membranes or chemical sensors.
