1-[ω-(4-Arylpiperazin-1-yl)alkyl]

-3-diphenylmethylene-2,5pyrrolidinediones as 5-HT 1A Receptor Ligands:

Study of the Steric Requirements of the Terminal Amide Fragment on 5-HT 1A Affinity/Selectivity.

-Two different methods are used to prepare the desired title compounds (IV) and (VII) which show binding activity at the 5-HT 1A receptor. The optimal side chain is found to be the four-methylene group, the influence of the imide substructure seems to be less important. -
