The structures of clerocidin and five cometabolites have been established by chemical interconversion, spectral, and X-ray crystallographic methods. Fermentation of the fungus, Oidiodendron truncatum, produces clerocidin (PR 1350)land five cometabolites: PR 1389, m.p. 140-142'C, [dD + 40.6O (c, 0.23
## Abstract The relative and absolute configuration of (+)‐3,12‐dihydroxypalmitic acid, a constituent of the __Ipomea operculata__ M. resin, has been determined by synthesis. Dimethyl L‐malate was converted via (__S__)‐(+)‐1 into the oxirane (__S__)‐(‐)‐2. Reaction of (‐)‐2 with the Grignard reagen
The complete stereochemistry of the monosacccharide 3,6,10-trideoxy-4-C-[(R)-l-hydroxyethyl]-D-erythro-D-gulo-decose, named caryophyllose, obtained from the lipopolysaccharide fraction of Pseudomonas caryophylli is reported. The relative stereochemistry was inferred by 1H NMR analysis and the absolu
