An efficient process has been developed for extraction of growth factors, antimicrobial agents, and minor whey proteins from bovine cheese whey. The whey-derived extract stimulates growth of mesodermal cell lines in culture but inhibits proliferation of epithelial-derived cells. Known growth factors
