โœฆ Synopsis

An integrated on-capillary dual electrode electrochemical detector for capillary electrophoresis consisting of two platinum wires is described. The electrodes are permanently ยฎxed so that no alignment is necessary. The detector was evaluated for direct amperometric detection in the series conยฎguration. Collection efยฎciencies were calculated for a series of phenolic acids exhibiting different degrees of chemical reversibility. The linearity and limits of detection at both electrodes were determined. The selectivity of the system was demonstrated by the detection of ferulic acid in beer.

A unique preconcentrator was constructed for on-line preconcentration using capillary electrophoresis generating concentration detection limits for peptides in the mid-picomolar range. Several common sheathless electrospray configurations were constructed in conjunction with the preconcentrator and

Capillary electrophoresis/electrospray ionization using an ion trap storage/reflectron time-of-flight mass spectrometer detector (CE/ESI-IT/reTOF) is used to provide a rapid and sensitive method for analyzing structural variants in the hemoglobin (Hb) ฮฒ-chain. The Hb ฮฑ-and ฮฒ-chains are separated and
