β¦ Synopsis
The catalytic hydrodechlorination reactions of hexachlorobenzene and all of its dechlorinated intermediates were examined in a differential microflow reactor. A presulfided NiMo&Al& catalyst and a reaction temperature of 325Β°C were used in all of the exoeriments. The dechlorination rate data and Droduct selectivities for hexachlorobenzene and other chlorinated benzen& demonstrate that reaction steps frequently &tvolve removal of multiple chlorine atoms. Not all passible intermediates are form&, all of the observed intermediate dechlorination steps proceed at comparable rates. A reaction mechanism based on an arenium ion intermediate is proposed to explain observed selectivities.

The catalyst was 100% selective in removing chlorine(s), leaving the hydroxyl grou
## Abstract The hydrodechlorination reactions of chlorobenzene and 1,2βdichlorobenzene on a NiMo/Ξ³Al~2~O~3~ catalyst were examined in a differential microflow reactor. The NiMo catalyst had high activity and selectivity for dechlorination; no hydrogenation of the aromatic ring was detected. The dec
